Members of Security Forward and invited guests were privileged to obtain tickets to attend The Lord Mayor’s Annual Defence and Security Lecture at The Mansion House on Monday the 25th June. As well as a large group of senior officers from the Armed Forces, the Home Secretary Theresa May was also present. The Lecture was given by Jonathan Evans, Director General of The Security Service (MI5) and, unusually, was released to the media, where it was widely reported in the newspapers and on television the next morning. Perhaps most valuable were the comments and observations made during the question and answer session, but these were off the record and under the Chatham House Rule. Only those present, including Security Forward were able to be involved in these exchanges with Jonathan Evans. There was a reception in the Saloon after the Lecture, which proved to be a valuable opportunity to network with those present and exchange views. We hope to continue to offer ‘special events’ for our Members in addition to our four meetings and dinners each year.
