Charting A New Chapter: How To Establish And Maintain a Portfolio Career
Webinar

Webinar Recording

In this webinar, Edward Wild, founder of Wild Search, an executive search and advisory firm now in its 10th year, will share his experience of advising on non executive and trustee appointments over more than a decade. It will be useful to those either considering their first non executive role, or seeking to combine a number of such roles following their executive career. It will also be of use to those seeking non executives or trustees for their organisation, as it is important to understand the motivations of those taking this route so as to secure the best people and retain them.

A report on these themes can be downloaded from the Wild Search website

Speaker:

Edward Wild led the formation of Wild Search in 2010 following his earlier career in executive search with Odgers Ray and Berndtson. Prior to Wild Search he established and led the Board and Non Profit practices at an established boutique firm, specialising in appointments of executive and non executive directors, chairs and trustees. He has worked for a wide range of membership, professional and trade bodies, arts and tourism organisations, charities, educational organisations and housing providers; in addition to work for corporate clients on national and international searches.

He brings clients 25 years’ experience in education as both a practitioner and adviser, with a growing interest in international education, both within the UK and in the growth of British schools and colleges abroad. He recently took part in the Education Investor Global Summit in Singapore and visited a number of Wild Search’s international partners and colleagues to develop his knowledge and insights.

His early career was pursued in secondary education and charities (including Cancer Research UK and Addaction). He combined this experience to become the first ever Development Director of Hampton School in 2001.

He is the author of 'School by the Thames' (James and James 2005) and, with Neil Carmichael MP, 'Who Governors the Governors?' (Wild Research 2011), 'Stronger Boards, Better Education' (2012) and 'Building Better Boards: An Opportunity for Education' (2015). He has edited a number of Wild Research publications, including three reports on portfolio careers, Charting a New Chapter (2020) being the latest one.

He has been a columnist on politics and education for regional newspapers and magazines, in addition to being regularly quoted by The Sunday Times on senior appointments and the rural economy. He was educated at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and has completed an executive education programme at Harvard Business School.

Edward is an experienced charity trustee member of the RSCM Council.
