In June this year, Z/Yen participated in the Global Ethics Forum 2012 “Seeds for Successful Transformation”, a three day conference addressing business ethics including ethics in finance. The conference attracted over 250 participants and involved 76 speakers from around the world. Professor Michael Mainelli spoke at the workshop on “Sustainable Finance: A New Understanding of Time Horizons” where he introduced Long Finance, an initiative seeking to improve society’s understanding and use of finance over the long term. He mentioned some recent developments including the work Z/Yen did on capacity trade and Confidence Accounting, a proposal to use distribution ranges rather than discrete values when appropriate in accounting and audit.
