Background:
In this lecture Ian Dyson will cover a brief history of terrorism and the City, how the threat is changing from the 1970s to the present day. He will also give a brief introduction to the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, the role of the Company in the Security landscape, and how the City of London police and partners are making the City as resilient as it can be against the changing terrorist threat.

Ian Dyson retired in 2022 from a 38-year career in policing, the last 6 as the Commissioner of the City of London police. In that role he was the National Police lead for Fraud, Economic Crime, Cyber Crime, Financial Investigation, and Business Crime. He was also the National Police lead on Technology and Information Management, and for 6 years was the National Police Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO). He is now trustee of a number of charities, and sits as a NED or Advisor to a number of companies in the crime, tech or cyber security sectors. He was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 2016, is a Distinguished Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and in 2022 became a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) for Greater London.
