The State Of British Banking
Seminar

After all the headlines of fixing rates, ripping off customers, getting overpaid and threatening to relocate offices, what it is the situation with Britain’s banks today.  Are Barclays, HSBC, RBS, Lloyds and Santander fixing and healing the wrongs or is there still bad news to come?  Will the startups challenge the banks, or will they just be upstarts?  To find out,  Anthony Browne, CEO of the British Bankers’ Association, will provide us with an insight into the true state of British banking.

Anthony Browne joined the BBA in September 2012 from Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for external engagement on political and regulatory issues. Anthony previously worked as policy director for economic development for Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London. He oversaw the London Development Agency, London’s international promotional agencies and set up the London apprenticeships programme, recruiting 40,000 apprentices in one year.

Before working for the Mayor, Anthony ran Policy Exchange, the UK’s largest free market think tank. He spent the first two decades of his career as a television and newspaper journalist, covering politics, business and economics.
