Revolutionising Training, With Human Centred & Ethical AI
Lecture

Background: For many people, the future world of work is going to be disrupted by AI. We are going to see job displacement and skills obsolescence as AI takes away many entry level jobs. While AI may be faster at processing data, better at spotting patterns and much lower cost, it is not so good at human interactions. The future workforce will need to adapt by acquiring new skills. There will be a higher demand for digital literacy, advanced technical skills, and soft skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence (EQ).

Ironically, it is AI that can now provide scalable and low-cost methods to ensure all UK citizens can all benefit - provided we have the operational and regulatory environment in which ethical and human centred AI can flourish.

Matthew Mayes, Co-founder of multi award-winning AI start-up A-dapt, will speak about the need, and opportunities for UK AI innovation to develop solutions for UK specific challenges in education and training.

Speaker:

Matthew Mayes FRSA completed an MA in Interactive Design at the Centre for Electronic Arts, in 1995. He spent 20 years working in agency networks, including MRM / McCann and Omnicom, working as an Executive Creative Director with highly talented teams, building all manner of digital innovations for some of the world’s leading brands – such as Intel, Microsoft, Unilever, SAP and Nestlé.  In 2018, he came across a new emotion intelligence algorithm that was to become the basis for Adaptive Media® tutorial format, co-founding A-dapt in 2019. A-dapt initially started as an AdTech start-up then pivoted to education shortly after COVID-19, using its innovation to help pupils sustain attention during screen-based learning. A-dapt then developed technology to enable UK college students to learn essential EQ skills and pivoted again, this time to France, where A-dapt's AI technology has been supported by the French Government agency France Travail. A-dapt’s mission is to use its Deep Tech innovation for social impact in the education, training and health sectors. Matthew was recently made a Freeman of the City of London.
