Long Lessons - What Can The Religions Of The Book Teach Modern Finance? "Money In The New & Old Testament - The Influence Of Christian Thinking On Finance"
Webinar

Webinar Recording

The second in the Long Lessons series of webinars, looking into what the religions of the book can teach modern finance. Christian teachings in the Old & New Testament have long encouraged the importance of honesty, good stewardship and generosity, and as asserted in Proverbs 13:11, dishonest money dwindles away. In this webinar, we will be joined by his Grace the Archbishop John McDowell to explore Christian thinking on finance, how this has influenced our development, and what lessons can be learned for those working in finance today.

Speaker:

John McDowell worked in the aerospace industry and as Assistant Director of the CBI(NI) prior to his ordination in 1996, following which he served in parishes in Northern Ireland. Immediate before his election as bishop John served for nine years as rector of St Mark’s, Dundela, the Belfast parish where CS Lewis was born and where Lewis’ grandfather served as rector. John was elected Church of Ireland Bishop of Clogher (a cross border diocese) in 2011, and Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of all Ireland in March 2020 – the 106th in succession to St Patrick. He is Church of Ireland lead on Christian Unity and Dialogue, NI Political Affairs and Brexit.
