In this webinar, Z/Yen will formally launch the 30th edition of the index. We are partnering for this launch with Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Finance Center to bring a Korean perspective to the development of financial centres.

Heenam Choi's bio

Heenam Choi was appointed Korea’s Ambassador for Financial Cooperation in November of 2020. He is the former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of the Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) as well as a current Senior Advisor at KIC. Mr. Choi is also presently a Non-Executive Director at Standard Chartered Korea and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Korea Capital Market Institute. Prior to joining KIC in 2018, Mr. Choi served as Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), representing 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. He was previously the Executive Director of the Asian Pacific Constituency at the World Bank Group (WBG). Mr. Choi has more than 30 years of experience at Korea’s Ministry of Strategy and Finance, where he served as Deputy Minister for International Affairs, Director General of International Finance, Director General of International Financial Cooperation, Director of the International Financial Policy Division and Director of the Foreign Exchange Market Division. He also played a pivotal role as the Director General of the Policy Strategy Bureau on the Presidential Committee of the G20 Summit, assisting the chairman at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting and addressing global issues, including IMF reforms. Earlier in his career, Mr. Choi was Assistant Secretary to the President for Finance and Economic Affairs at the President’s Office. He has worked at the IMF as an Alternate Executive Director (2011) and at the World Bank as an Advisor (1999-2003). Mr. Choi earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He has an MBA in finance and a BA in economics from Hanyang University in Korea.
