The leading bank in the world for digitalisation is mBank, Poland. This is a bank that transformed in 15 months from a branch-based bank with echannels to a digital bank with a few branches. The bank dumped its old branding of BRE Bank and re-energised the markets, winning awards globally. The leader of that project was Michal Panowicz whose success has led him to become the lead for redeveloping Nordea to be a digital bank.
Michal Panowicz is SVP and Deputy Head of Digital Banking in Nordea. He joined Nordea in April 2015 having previously worked as Head of Digital for mBank, a digital frontrunner in banking and ranked the #1 online retail and SME bank in 2014 by Forrester Research. Prior to mBank, where he held the position of Managing Director for Products, Marketing & Digital, Michal worked at Microsoft, eBay and The Boston Consulting Group. In October, Michal received the Personality of the Year Award from The Digital Banking Club and Retail Banker International for his contribution to the development of new digital services to banking customers.
