Scotland has a 350-year history as a leading financial centre; second only to London in the UK, sustaining around 150,000 jobs, and contributing 9.4% of the Scottish economy by Gross Value Added (GVA).
Throughout its long history, it has innovated and reinvented itself continuously. Edinburgh is well known for its expertise in asset management, pensions and banking and Glasgow is creating its own distinctive success story, with global banking firms such as Barclays, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley choosing to invest there. The Scottish fintech cluster spans the central belt of Scotland and is recognised internationally, with FinTech Scotland recently being awarded a new silver level of Cluster Excellence accreditation, the highest level achieved by a fintech body in UK and Europe.
In this webinar, Sandy Begbie CBE, Chief Executive of Scottish Financial Enterprise, the membership body for the financial sector in Scotland, will cover Scotland’s existing strengths as an international financial centre, and how it is successfully positioning itself for future success and inward investment through its sector strategy and collaboration across the sector and with key partners in Universities, colleges, other industry sectors and government.
