SEPA, the Single Euro Payments Area, really takes off this year with the Payment Service Directive (PSD) and SEPA Direct Debits (SDD) both due to go live in November. But where have we got to and where are going? Has SEPA really delivered a harmonised payments zone for the euro, or are we as far away as ever from this dream? No-one knows better than Gerard Hartsink.
Gerard Hartsink is Senior Executive Vice President of Market Infrastructures of the ABN AMRO Bank and Chairman of the European Payments Council. During his career he has had managerial roles in sales, product development and operations in several business units within the ABN AMRO Group.
