In 1688, Lloyd's of London, the most historically iconic insurance market, was born out of Edward Lloyd's Coffee House on Tower Street. From its inception, Lloyd's has played a unique role in driving innovation in insurance, addressing the evolving demands of society, commerce, and industry over the ensuing centuries. Today, Lloyd's underwrites approximately £53 billion ($67 billion) of insurance contracts from its iconic EC3 headquarters on Lime Street, in the heart of the City of London. Remarkably, it still maintains a coffee house where many deals are negotiated, underscoring the human interaction that sets Lloyd's apart.

Since its inception in 2018, the Lab has hosted 12 cohorts and accepted over 136 companies out of more than 3,000 applicants, achieving a 97% success rate with 85% of alumni companies forming commercial relationships within the Lloyd’s Market.
As we delve into the rich narrative, we’ll highlight how the Lab is not only fostering new products but also bringing fresh talent from diverse fields such as academia, engineering, and various industries into the insurance sector.
